MELANIE FINEMAN, Senior, Newton
Mile Personal Best: 4:57
Career Highlights:
- Achieved PB of 4:57 @ 2010 Nike Indoor Nationals
- 5x All-American
- Member of champion 4x mile relay @ 2009 Nike Indoor and Outdoor Nationals
- Member of numerous teams that placed at Nike Indoor Nationals
This 5 time All American is the only runner in this field with a sub five-minute time. When she was in Oregon for the Nike Nationals she ate dinner with Shalane Flanagan, which she calls a highlight. She credits much of her success to her amazing teammates and coaches. “They inspire me with their work ethic, positive attitude, enthusiasm and general incredible nature,” she says. Of all of her many accomplishments, her proudest is being a three-time team captain because she wants to give back to the team that gave her so much. As a current senior at Newton South High School, she will be running cross-country at Brown University in the fall.
